joseph falcone Pt 3/3 Dave Denny 2011 MTCCCA Avila XC/Track Coach

Interview with Coach Dave Denny at the 2011 Missouri Track and Cross Country Coaches Association annual clinic on Friday December 9, 2011 at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Columbia, Missouri. Coach Denny coaches at Avila University in Kansas Cit and is a Raytown native who ran at Central Missouri State University and coached at Belton High School, and Lee's Summit and Lee's Summit West High Schools among others. Denny is a MTCCCA Hall of Fame. He's coached several of the best distance runners in Missouri and the US over the years including Joe Falcon at Belton and Amy Wiseman and Matt Tegenkamp at Lee's Summit High School. He won the Missouri Class 4 Boys State XC Championship in 1997 with Lee's Summit and the 2007 Missouri Class 4 Girls State XC Championship with Lee's Summit West before retiring. Coach Jesse Griffin took over the West Girls program in 2008 and who four straight Class 4 XC titles and has a streak of five straight. Denny spent a year coaching at a Kansas high school before starting the program at Avila, an NAIA program, three years ago.
